WELCOME TO MY WEBSITE!
My name is Brigitte Bennett and I run a busy naturopathic clinic in Ringwood North, Victoria, Australia.
I practise my craft with passion and especially love looking after families. Exploring alternative health care options for my own children is what got me interested in naturopathy in the first place many years ago.
I specialise in ASTHMA MANAGEMENT, combining the BUTEYKO BREATHING METHOD with the latest naturopathic care.
Every 1st & 3rd Tuesday in a month I run a FREE CHILDREN'S CLINIC for children up to the age of 16 giving parents a chance to explore alternative and complementary options to orthodox health care.
On my other clinic days I see many patients from all walks of life and with all kinds of complaints. My working life is never boring! Some people have never been to a naturopath before, others wouldn't go anywhere else. I welcome them all!
I have recently joined Dr. Mariola Prokop and her team at BRACELESS CHOICE, in Ringwood, where we help children develop beautiful smiles WITHOUT the use of braces. My work involves teaching children how to breath through the nose as most of their dental problems would have developed due to mouth breathing. To find out more please check out their website www.bracelesschoice.com.au
I cater for a varied clientele. There are those patients who are proactive and practice preventative health care and those who come to me when everyone else has given up on them. It is never too early or too late to address health issues!
After studying for four years I graduated with an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy in March 1999.
Upon graduation I was awarded the Brauer's Homoeopathy Award for Outstanding Achievements.
I am a member of the Australian Naturopathic Practitioners Association (A.N.P.A.).
I am certified by Buteyko Pty.Ltd / Brisbane to teach the Buteyko Breathing Method, for the relief of asthma and became a member of BUTEYKO PRACTITIONERS INTERNATIONAL in 2015.
I hold a Rei-ki I and Rei-ki II certificate and a Thought Field Therapy (TFT) certificate.
In 2007 I qualified as a Time Line Therapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist.
I am also a qualified primary school teacher which comes in handy when faced with my very young patients.
The world is a changing place and we are continuously discovering better ways of solving the many health problems we are facing in our modern times. This is why I attend many hours of professional development every year. I am required to attend at least 20 hours of professional development by my professional associations but I frequently exceed that number.
A Personal Glimpse:
I was born in 1959 in Vienna, Austria and moved to Australia in 1980 after getting married to Stephen. We have two children, Peter, who was born in 1985 and Stephanie, who joined us in 1990. Both have now moved out and are a constant source of amazement to Steve and myself. Mostly we are amazed how, without a "how-to" book, we managed to produce such wonderful children who turned into even greater adults! Our greatest joy is hanging out with them whenever we get the chance!
Besides Naturopathy, Homoeopathy and helping my patients, I love cooking, good food, reading, bush walking, traveling, going to the movies and generally hanging out with my family.
Naturopathy is defined as a philosophy, art and science of healing which assists the self-recuperative processes of the body and the maintenance of health. The term covers therapies such as:
- NUTRITION (diet, vitamin & mineral therapy)
- ENERGETIC REMEDIES (flower essences, tissue salts)
- TACTILE THERAPY (massage, reflexology...)
- STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENTS by approprietly qualified practitioners
Naturopathy believes in an inherent life-force, which is present in all living things. It is responsible for the constant effort of the body to self-clean and self-heal. It corrects imbalances and repairs injuries, returning the body to homeostasis (internal equilibrium).
This force is at work for instance, when a cut or broken bone heals. Your injuries heal without you having to will your body to do so.
It is also at work during more serious and chronic illnesses. However, it can be impeded by our unhealthy lifestyle, dietary deficiencies, a restless mental state and lack of rest, amongst other things.
As a naturopath I am trained to encourage this life-force to do its job by advising the patient about better lifestyle choices and by assisting the body in the healing process primarily with herbs, homoeopathy and nutrition.
Body, Mind & Spirit
Naturopathy is always mindful about the fact that we are body, mind and spirit. It realizes that we are more than just physical beings with 'broken-down' parts, which need to be fixed. This is why a well trained naturopath will take time to explore all dimensions which may be contributing to ill health.
The root of the problem
Naturopathy does not concern itself with mere symptom control to eliminate pain for instance, but it tries to find out how and why and where and when things first went wrong. This is why a naturopathic consultation should always allow sufficient time for a thorough health assessment interview.
